NBA star Richard Jefferson has left his bride at the altar in one of the weirdest celebrity weddings of the year – which some revelers had already turned up for.
The former New Jersey Nets and Milwaukee Bucks forward was due to wed Kesha Ni’Cole Nichols, a former Nets dancer, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Manhattan but reportedly got “cold feet” several days before the $2 million ceremony. Some guests were not told until after they had started showing up for the celebrations, along with paparazzi and basketball fans.
Jefferson has just been traded by Milwaukee to the San Antonio Spurs, a trade which astounded him on many levels, including how the Spurs managed to keep their star players Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli.
“I was kind of surprised. I was shocked to tell you the truth,” Jefferson said on the Dan Patrick radio show. “The fact that San Antonio was able to keep their three main players was even more of a shock. It immediately got a buzz going on my phone.”
