Game of Thrones , the popular HBO fantasy drama, has been keeping fans in suspense for five seasons, and now we finally have some answers about the casting choices for Season 6. With GoT fans left hanging at the end of Season 5, the Independent speculated about what GoT ‘s casting choices might mean for everyone’s favorite (or possibly least favorite) characters, as well as the various plots and subplots.

“From the looks of things, there will be a renewed focus on the North, as key characters from houses Umber and Karstark are introduced (or re-introduced and re-imagined for book readers), as well as the return of House Greyjoy, who have only been seen fleetingly in more recent seasons.”

“ Game Of Thrones fan site Watchers On The Wall has confirmed that the previously reported casting news – for a Lord of Noble Northern House and Lord of Northern Stronghold respectively – are Smalljon Umber and Lord Karstark respectively.”

If the surname Umber sounds familiar, you might recall that Ned Stark found the name Umber while digging through a genealogy book in GoT ‘s first season. There are more hints to be discovered regarding Season 6 casting for GoT as well. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Emilia Clarke hinted that there’s a lot more storyline left for her character Daenerys in GoT Season 6, suggesting Miss Targaryen is alive and well (or at least alive).

“There’s so much in store for her,” Clarke said of the Mother of Dragons. “I’m saying that obviously because I’ve read the script for next season. Muwah ha ha! I know stories. It’s really exciting.”

The choice of which characters are cast for GoT Season 6 are also potential hints about what’s going to happen next. Danish Actor Pilou Asbæk has been cast as Euron Greyjoy, and GoT fansite Watchers On The Wall confirmed that the Kingsmoot from A Feast For Crows is being filmed now. The conclusion? The scope of events in Season 6 may go well beyond what George R.R. Martin is writing for the next GoT book, The Winds of Winter.

Variety speculated that the actor cast as Euron could be an important character in GoT Season 6 , and that might mean we would be getting to see more of the Iron Islands than we have in previous GoT seasons. The site also mentioned that there will be two other newcomers aboard, Ian McShane in an unknown role, and Max Von Sydow as Bran Stark’s mentor, The Three-Eyed Raven. What are your predictions for Season 6 of GoT ? What would you like to see, and what do you think the showrunners have planned?
