A Florida sinkhole opened up back in 2013 and it swallowed a Seffner man by the name of Jeff Bush. Well, the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue has confirmed that the sinkhole has reopened and it is currently measuring in at 17-feet wide by 20-feet deep.
ABC Action News is reporting that the sinkhole is open once again, but hopefully there is no danger to anyone. It is situated behind fences as that area was surrounded after it originally opened up back in 2013.
In 2013, 36-year-old Jeff Bush lost his life when the Florida sinkhole originally opened up in his bedroom at 240 Faithway Drive. It was in the middle of the night on April 30 while he was asleep.
When it happened, Jeff Bush began yelling for help and it woke up his brother Jeremy Bush who was sleeping in another room. Jeremy attempted to pull his brother out of the sinkhole, but there was no way he could get him out of it.
“It was something you would see in a movie. You wouldn’t, in your wildest dreams, you wouldn’t think anything like that could happen, especially here.”
Along with the brothers, there were four other people in the home at the time of its collapse. Jeremy Bush’s wife and his two-year-old daughter were also in it, but they were able to get out.
Once the sinkhole stopped opening and widening, the home and two neighboring homes were completely demolished. The sinkhole, which had opened to 30-feet wide at the time, was filled in, and the area was fenced off.

Unfortunately, Jeffrey Bush’s body was left underground as safety crews were not able to retrieve him. It wasn’t the first time that disaster victims were left underground though. In the past few decades, the bodies of dozens of miners had been left behind after mine collapses or explosions.
Rescue workers attempted to get them, but the situation became too dangerous and they could not safely continue their attempts.
It is said that water beneath the surface of the ground could cause it to collapse and develop the sinkholes.
Once again, the dangerous Florida sinkhole that opened up and swallowed Jeff Bush back in 2013 has reopened. Emergency crews and researchers are going to be dealing with the situation and making sure that no-one is injured or go nears the dangerous area.
