Why Donald Trump’s Poll Surge Is Being Called A ‘Phenomenon’ By A Fellow Politician

By now, you’ve probably realized that Donald Trump is one of those politicians who acts so comically he’s actually being taken seriously. Among his many over-the-top promises, Trump claimed he would build a giant wall on the U.S.-Mexico border at Mexico’s expense, repeal ObamaCare, and force just about every illegal immigrant back to their home countries.

Though his campaign didn’t appear to be serious at first, Trump is now gaining attention from both the media and the public for his larger-than-life promises. NBC News quoted Florida Governor and Presidential Candidate Jeb Bush as calling Trump’s campaign a “phenomenon” and noting that Trump has “appealed to people’s anger” as a method of climbing to the top of the polls. “Phenomenon” really is the way to describe Trump’s campaign; to go from a reality TV star who wasn’t taken seriously to a viable political candidate is no easy task.

Just as President Obama sold himself as the “Anti-Bush” in 2008, it seems Trump is having a great deal of success being seen as the “Anti-Obama.” Not everyone loves the Don, however. According to Inquisitr, actress Salma Hayek despises Trump and won’t even say the Don’s name. This is likely related to Trump’s controversial speech on his feelings about illegal Mexican immigrants, whom he labelled as rapists, drug smugglers, and murderers. Much of the Hispanic community has still not forgiven Trump, but he seems to be doing well in the polls nonetheless.

Politico.com noted that Jeb Bush and Trump will face off in a Presidential debate in Cleveland on August 6, alongside six other Republicans. The site’s political experts warned Bush to steer clear of the media mogul as Trump is known to fight dirty. With 13 total Republicans seeking their party’s Presidential nomination, the atmosphere is tense to say the least. Members of the Republican Party have even been insulting their fellow conservatives. For instance, Trump recently marred former Presidential candidate John McCain’s war record by saying McCain was only a hero because he was captured by enemy forces.

Whether Trump is a viable candidate for President or not, he’s certainly getting attention from the public. Google Trends shows him as the most-searched Presidential candidate from July 24 to July 3o, 2015, edging out Democrat Bernie Sanders by an extreme margin.

Many Republicans have made claims that they will abolish the very-much-hated ObamaCare, though their plan for doing so has not been fully laid out just yet. While Trump has no real political experience, that is exactly what his supporters like about him. The Don has been running on a platform of being a sort of antithesis to politicians, whom he feels are corrupt.
