Joe McMahon was killed in front of his home in Pasadena, California. He was just 25-years-old.

Joe McMahon, who used to produce the Discovery Channel reality series Deadliest Catch , was killed by multiple bullet wounds. According to family members, McMahon had stepped outside to check on some noise outside his home when unknown assailants pumped multiple bullets and fled.

According to eye witnesses, the gunmen drove in in a car, attacked the victim, and fled away. Law enforcement officials who responded to calls about possible shots fired at 3600 block of Yorkshire Road in the Chapman Woods at around 2 in the morning are still investigating the murder and are collecting details and eye witness accounts. The police stated they saw a young man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, reported U.S. Weekly .

It appears Joe McMahon had succumbed to the bullet wounds before anyone could summon emergency medical officials in the dead of the night. McMahon’s lifeless body was discovered just a few doors down from his actual house, shared the police. Since the incident is fresh and is being investigated, no further details have been released. Joe’s identity was confirmed by his family members and he was officially pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.

It is presently quite unclear why the attack on Joe McMahon took place or could McMahon may have been an innocent victim who fell prey to bullets. Family members maintain that Joe didn’t have any affiliations with anyone who could commit such crimes. Apparently, the police may have ruled out drugs, reported ABC 7 News . Moreover, Joe isn’t suspected to have any relations with local gangs. Nonetheless, all possible angles of the case could be looked at.

One thing’s for certain though. Joe McMahon did step outside his house voluntarily right before the shooting occurred indicating he didn’t suspect the impending attack, as per his family, explained Lt. Holly Francisco.

“We do know that he did leave the house right before the shooting. People heard gunshots and found the victim.”

Joe McMahon had served as an associate producer on The Deadliest Catch for nine episodes two years back. The Discovery Network issued a statement.

“We are heartsick about this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to all that knew and worked with him.”

[Update]: According to Los Angeles Times , the man suspected of killing Joe McMahon has been found dead with a seemingly self-inflicted gunshot wound.
