Attentions 90s Kids: ‘Goosebumps’ Is Now A Movie And The Trailer Will Make Your Day [Trailer]

Children of the 90s, get ready to be very, very happy. The horror series we all loved and devoured when we were pre-teens is now a movie. Yes, that’s right, Goosebumps is coming to the silver screen.

The movie, which will — of course — be released right before Halloween, stars Jack Black as a fictionalized, if not a little curmudgeonly, version of author R.L. Stine , Time reported.

Goosebumps crams all of the scary monsters from the books into one movie — the Abominable Snowman of Pasadena and the Living Dummy among them — which makes it not exactly a faithful adaptation of a single book in the series, but an ode to all of them.

The plot is basically this: Stine has locked up all his fictional monsters inside Goosebumps manuscripts hidden in what looks like his office. Enter one lovelorn teen eager to impress Stine’s daughter, and poof — all those monsters are unleashed into the world, eager to destroy it, Slate reported.

All it takes is some trivia only a hardcore Goosebumps fan would know, and the teens will somehow be able to draw those scary creatures back into their literary hidey holes.

The movie trailer is enough to make anyone, not just 90s kids now entering their 30s and mired in nostalgia, excited. It features silly jokes, some hairy moments, deadly gnomes, doofus abominable snowmen, and Jack Black’s signature wild eyebrows. What more could you want?

If you’re being a bit jaded, like the Verge , you may like to point out that the movie is taking advantage of 30-somethings’ love of everything 90s , turning the pop culture of our youth into “popcorn flicks.”

But who cares?

Goosebumps is not only bringing our imaginations to life, but even better, the imaginations of our 12-year-old selves to life. And that’s even better.
