Rob Liefeld, co-creator of the Marvel Comics antihero Deadpool, found a different way to confirm that the highly-anticipated movie is not approved for children.
When speaking about Deadpool, Liefeld also shared his strong opinion (and review) of the 2016 Tim Miller-directed film at the Amazing Las Vegas Comic-Con.
According to Liefeld, the movie adaptation will stay true to the comic book – which should be a huge relief for Deadpool fans and critics that were worried about his big-screen solo debut.
However, Liefeld also mentioned that Deadpool’s authentic portrayal is what makes it not approved for kids at all.
“Everything that made the script so unique is still there and it’s still intact. Down to the R-rating, and I’m sorry kids. I have kids, too, and my daughter’s not seeing it.”
Even though he will not be taking his daughter to see Deadpool on the big screen, Liefeld did speak highly about the film. He actually compared it to the cinematic work of an Oscar-winning director known for his own R-rated films filled with hardcore violence and comic relief – Quentin Tarantino.
“Deadpool’s pretty hardcore, it’s pretty awesome. When I first read it, I thought ‘this is the voice of Tarantino in a comic book movie,’ which is perfect because Deadpool is more crime-oriented, action-oriented, obviously, and Tarantino has got a great sense of humor.”
Ryan Reynolds confirmed that the Deadpool movie would be Rated R earlier this year when Deadpool killed Mario Lopez as an April Fool’s Day prank.

Deadpool will be released in North America on February 12, 2016.
