A 65 year old retired driver was in his house when opened fire with his rifle. The killed couple in their 20’s were in front of the man’s house in Douchy-les Mines in Northern France. A third person is in critical condition.
As the police arrived the man barricaded himself in his house and threatened to shoot himself, but after brief negotiations he surrendered to the police.
According to local French media the man is married and he has three adult children. His motive for shooting is still unknown.
