The Walking Dead fans who follow spoilers of the show have been very concerned about the fate of a popular character, and now there’s an update on some rumors that have been making the rounds. Before you read on, be forewarned that spoilers are ahead.
The Inquisitr previously reported that Michonne (Danai Gurira) hasn’t been seen much on the Walking Dead set. Danai’s seeming absence led to speculation that something sinister had happened to Michonne, and it wasn’t a problem that could be solved with a few swift swings of her samurai sword. Cinema Blend gave fans a fright by asking if The Walking Dead is about to lose one of its main characters, and it pointed out that things have been very chaotic on the set of the show lately — it looks like the Wolves have invaded Alexandria, and surely the community won’t survive their attack without losing a few of its own.
However, Michonne fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief — as of right now, she’s still alive and swinging her sword. The Spoiling Dead Fans recently responded to the rumors of her demise by posting a photo of Danai Gurira on Facebook. The picture shows Danai all decked out in her dreads, and it looks like Michonne has finally ditched that dorky blue uniform and tie — she’s showing off her guns and looks ready for action.
“We’ve seen a couple of online articles today inferring that perhaps Michonne has been killed off due to our lack of mentioning her name in our set reports,” the post accompanying the photo reads. “One or two of the articles are a bit misleading in what they claim we have stated. To clarify, we made no such statement and as of Tuesday (5/19/15), as this photo by Carolyn Beggs (via Drew Oglesby) shows, Michonne is alive and well.”
Judging from what the Spoiling Dead Fans has shared so far, there’s no evidence that any major character has been killed off. However, Walking Dead fans know that no one on the show is safe — except for Daryl Dixon, of course.
Speaking of the beloved biker boy who turns zombie heads into bowling balls, he could play a part in keeping Michonne safe. During an interview with the Daily Beast , Norman Reedus revealed that he definitely wouldn’t mind a “Dixonne” pairing on The Walking Dead .
“Never say never,” Reedus said of the possibility of Daryl and Michonne hooking up. “She’s a cute girl. I’m not opposed to it.”
During another interview with Rolling Stone , Norman Reedus revealed that he has a lot of pull with the Walking Dead writers. Early scripts had Daryl “saying a lot of racist things and taking drugs,” but Norman managed to convince the writers to transform Merle Jr. into a completely different character . So if Norman wants to keep Danai around, he can probably get his way.
As an interesting side note, Norman also told Rolling Stone that he turned down a role alongside George Clooney in Tomorrowland because he didn’t want to cut his hair. He loves Daryl’s hipster mullet that much.
