Evander Holyfield Vs Mitt Romney: Fight Lasts Two Rounds, GOP Man Is No Mike Tyson

Evander Holyfield vs. Mitt Romney may have just been a charity event, but some were hoping they would get some good punches in there. Unfortunately, the fight lasted a mere two rounds and more resembled the former Republican presidential candidate’s debates with Barack Obama.

In a related report by the Inquisitr , Mitt Romney is not anything like Mike Tyson, but he could not help but to make jokes about Evander Holyfield’s ear .

“I don’t have much of a right hook, but when I get somebody’s ear, I can be pretty formidable,” Romney joked. “I’m staying far away from his ears. I don’t for a moment want for him to confuse me with anyone from his past. If I’m successful in the bout with Evander, then my next bout is going to be with Harry [Reid].”

“Success” is relative, although Romney could claim success since he was not KO’ed in the first seconds of the first round. Attendees like Devin Anderson were just happy “it went to the second.”

But Fox News reports that Evander Holyfield went very easy on the older man.

“Romney, 68, and Holyfield, 52, sparred, if you could call it that , for just two short rounds before Romney ran away from the boxer and threw in the towel, giving up a round early in the lighthearted fight that came amid several other fights by professional boxers and an auction. The two barely threw any punches and largely just danced around, occasionally lightly jabbing each other in the midsection in what was much more of a comedic event than an actual bout.”

After running away from the fight like it was the 2016 presidential elections, Mitt Romney claimed Holyfield said, “You know what? You float like a bee and sting like a butterfly.”

But Mitt Romney vs. Evander Holyfield was never intended to prove that the GOP man could really box with the best. Instead, Utah-based CharityVision was raising money to help doctors in developing countries perform eye surgeries to restore vision in people with curable blindness.

Romney’s son Josh Romney helped arrange the charity boxing match, and it is said they raised at least $1 million to help those in need.

As PJ Media put it, “At least something good came out of it. Unlike, say, the 2012 presidential election.”

If Barack had been in the ring instead of Evander Holyfield, you almost wonder if Romney would have been tempted to pull a Mike Tyson.
