TMZ reported that Adam Levine got sugar thrown on him soon after singing his hit song “Sugar” with Maroon 5 on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday night. As Levine was leaving Jimmy Kimmel’s Hollywood studios, powdered sugar was thrown on him.

The lead singer of Maroon 5 had signed only a few autographs for fans who had waited outside a long time to see him when he was stopped abruptly. An entire bag of powder sugar was thrown at The Voice coach about 8:30 p.m. in a back parking lot area behind Jimmy Kimmel’s studios. Levine was not hurt, but was so upset that he took off his sugar-covered jacket and threw it on the ground. Then he walked away wearing a white t-shirt.

“The person who threw the powder sugar was quickly apprehended by security until police arrived and arrested him for battery.”

The Los Angeles Police Department arrested 28-year-old Navid Farsi for battery on Levine and four other members of Levine’s security team. Two plain clothed, off-duty officers conducted a private arrest. Farsi is currently in jail with bail set at $100,000 for throwing powdered sugar on a total of five people.

Yahoo! Celebrity reported that Levine had already taped his interview with Kimmel at the time of the attack.

The whole scene was captured by fans who were waiting for autographs at the time the powdered sugar was thrown. Kristal Klune posted on Instagram a picture of Levine covered in sugar.

“We were all meeting him talking to him and some guy ran up on him and threw powder all over him!!!… Security tackled the guy down and arrested him. Adam walked off, that guy ruined it for all the fans he was greeting.”

Laura Tijerina, who was waiting for an autograph at the time, said Levine looked angry.

“It looked like he wanted to fight the guy. I think this guy had it planned. It was a brown bag with tape around it, which was weird. I just saw powder everywhere. It was just so quick.”

Fox News reported that it’s unclear what Farsi’s motivations were for throwing the powdered sugar , but this is not the first time he has thrown an item on a celebrity. He’s the same man who threw a rock at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson last week.

Apparently, Farsi is a serial offender who is using a theme to attack celebrities with an object that pertains to them. For instance, Levine has just finished singing “Sugar,” and Dwayne Johnson’s nickname is “The Rock.”
