Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel are one of the most controversial on-again, off-again couples on television. On Southern Charm’s first season, fans watched as the 23-year-old Dennis engaged in a sexual relationship with 51-year-old Ravenel. By Season 2, the pair made things official and welcomed their first child together.
In an April 13 interview, Kathryn Dennis opened up about how motherhood and her relationship with Thomas Ravenel have changed her as a person.
“In the beginning it was difficult to adjust because it was so polarized from my previous lifestyle,” Kathryn Dennis told People Magazine .
“I feel like, before I found out I was pregnant with Kensie, I was just a free-spirited 21-year-old that was just looking to have fun, but now that I’ve adjusted and I’ve become more confident in my day-to-day decisions, I’ve gained my own acceptance with everything going on.”
Ravenel, a former South Carolina State Treasurer, was suspended from his political career in 2007 after being convicted of cocaine distribution. On the second season of Southern Charm , he was seen returning to politics with Kathryn Dennis by his side.
Because of his high-profile image, Ravenel is often highly criticized, and when it comes to his relationship, not everyone was on board with his and Kathryn Dennis’ age gap.
“Thomas is 51. It comes with a lot of preconceived notions both on Thomas’s behalf and just people in general around Charleston. Immediately it doesn’t seem like a natural thing or something that is ordinary to see in society, I suppose.”
While Kathryn Dennis claimed she and Ravenel get a lot of support from people who are rooting for their relationship to succeed, they are often targeted by haters who feel Ravenel should be with someone his own age.
“The challenge is for other people. If they have a problem, and I don’t know about it, then it’s their problem.”
Although Kathryn Dennis didn’t say whether or not she and Ravenel were currently dating, she sure hinted at such but also said they are currently living apart and co-parenting their daughter as they figure things out. In other words, even if they aren’t together at this point, they seem to want to reconcile if it’s possible.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Kathryn Dennis appeared to spend Easter with Ravenel and their daughter. At the time, Ravenel’s Facebook photos seemingly confirmed the pair was back on .
