Early on Thursday morning, there were a few Fantastic Four images released by 20th Century Fox to finally show the group in form. One of those images was of Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm, A.K.A. The Thing, and it was pretty awesome . Now, Josh Trank’s reboot of the film has yet another image of the big man and it looks like it’s clobbering time.

The first image of The Thing was one of him seemingly walking down a hallway, so not much action there. This most recent one from Entertainment Weekly is one that shows him in action and packing quite a punch.

Yes, the character of The Thing will be Jamie Bell to an extent, but it’s going to be a CG-version of him.

There are some similarities to the first film, but Trank is taking a different approach with this version of Fantastic Four . He was inspired by David Cronenberg-type horror for his take, and in an interview with EW , Trank speaks on doing a cross between Tim Burton and Steven Spielberg.

He calls it “Dark Amblin” and, paired with writer-producer Simon Kinberg, the studio looked to meet that goal. They wanted the film to feel scary and appear that the super-powers are not a blessing, but a curse they’ve got to learn to live with.

Kinberg sees it a bit more as a horror movie than a comic book superhero picture. He also thinks it is one that is about turning your life around.

“Part of defining yourself… is that moment when you go from being dependent to being in control of your destiny.”

A lot of that will be possible by the fact that Kinberg producing X-Men: First Class , X-Men: Days of Future Past , and X-Men: Apocalypse . He knows how to bring a comic book film with a darker and more sinister look and feel to it.

That has already been accomplished by the look of The Thing and the overall theme of the movie, which is nothing like that of the Fantastic Four from 2005.

Along with Jamie Bell as The Thing, Fantastic Four stars Kate Mara, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Toby Kebbell, Reg E. Cathey, and Tim Blake Nelson. It’s going to open in theaters on August 7, and many fans already think this reboot is going to be much better than the version from a few years ago.
