24 ‘ fans have reason to rejoice – Jack Bauer is headed to the big screen.

Speaking to TV critics this Sunday about his new Fox drama series “Touch,” actor Kiefer Sutherland revealed that production on the much-anticipated ’24’ movie could start sometime this spring.

“The status on the movie — hopefully we will be shooting at the end of April, beginning of May,” Sutherland told the media. “I see it as a continuation. The script that we’ve got right now, which I’m very, very excited about, is relatively a direct continuation. It’s within six months from the end of the last episode. We’ll see where it goes from there.”

Although he kept quiet on the specifics (i.e. we don’t know if Chloe will be back) regarding the 24 film, CraveOnline reports that Sutherland did drop a few hints, one being that the movie, like the series, would focus on a 24-hour period.

According to AceShowBiz, “The Wolverine” screenwriter Mark Bomback has been tapped to polish the original screenplay, which was written by Billy Ray. Ace added that the 24 movie is still on the hunt for a director to helm the operation.

Besides talking ’24,’ Sutherland also opened up about his role in the upcoming series Touch .

The new drama, which will have a sneak preview later this month, centers on Sutherland’s character, Martin Bohm, a former journalist and a widowed father raising a mute, gifted son.

“I remember getting to page 35 [of the script] and thinking, ‘Oh s—. I’m in real trouble here’,” he said. “The character is so vastly different [from 24’s Jack Bauer], the tone of the piece is so vastly different. And that’s part of its appeal.

“Does it happen to be a nice diversion from 24?” Sutherland asked. “Yes. I just couldn’t turn this down because it spoke to me on a really profound level.”

Touch will premiere on March 19 at 9pm on Fox. A special preview of the series will air on January 25 at 9pm.

As for the 24 movie , no release date has been announced.

Are you looking forward to Kiefer Sutherland’s return in the 24 film? Besides Jack, are there any other characters that you hope make the new movie’s cast? via AceShowBiz
