Teen icon Justin Bieber just picked up a new tattoo dedicated to one of the most important people in his life — and, no, it’s not Selena Gomez.
The 17-year-old “Baby” singer was spied on a Los Angeles beach on Jan. 5 sporting a large portrait of Jesus plastered on the back of his left calf.
“I’m a Christian, I believe in God, I believe that Jesus died on a cross for my sins,” Bieber has been quoted as saying in the past. “I believe that I have a relationship and I’m able to talk to him and really, he’s the reason I’m here, so I definitely have to remember that. As soon as I start forgetting, I’ve got to click back and be like, you know, this is why I’m here.”
Fox News points out that the Biebs’ new tat, which is approximately about 5” tall, appears to be inspired by an illustration for “The Mysteries of the Crown of Thorns,” written by a Passionist Father in 1879.
Despite the stir Justin’s latest ink work is causing in the entertainment realm, it isn’t the young singer’s first time marking up his skin.
In May, Bieber got a matching tattoo with his father; the word Jesus (in Hebrew) tattooed just under his left armpit, and he also has a bird tattoo on his lower torso.
