Friends is a television show that most of us have watched on a daily basis since it first aired. The antics of Ross, Rachel , Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, and Joey are so ingrained into our subconscious that we feel as if we’re actually part of their posse.
But there is one giant plot hole to Friends that most of us have assumed was simply overlooked by its writers.
I mean, why were they always able to get that specific huge sofa right in the middle of their local coffee shop, Central Perk? You know the couch I’m talking about. It’s the one that’s in literally every single episode of the hugely popular show, and where the gang would gather to discuss their trials and tribulations.
Despite the fact that Central Perk was a thriving coffee shop, which was usually packed to the brim with people hell-bent on drinking coffee from their huge mugs, Ross, Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, and Joey were always able to get a seat with ease. In fact, any time any of them ever walked into Central Perk, it was completely empty and just waiting for one of the sextet to plant their keister on it.
Of course, as we now live in an age when the internet is prominent, people like to over-analyze and criticize television shows for even the slightest error. And the fact that six people were able to get the same sofa every time they went into a bustling New York City coffee shop is certainly a huge oversight.
But now Tanya Ghahremani, a journalist over at Bustle , has spotted evidence that proves Friends’ creative team knew exactly what they were doing after all. Check out the below image and you’ll see how they were always able to get their sofa.
Can you see it? If not that’s perfectly OK. After all, Friends did come to an end back in 2004 and it’s only just come to the public’s attention now. So, on the table , next to the ashtray is a sign that reads “Reserved.”
That’s right, one of the crafty swines decided to utilize their friendship with Gunther and the rest of the employees at Central Perk to make the sofa their own.
But if you think that’s just a one-off, you can actually go back through the entire series and spot it there regularly.
And here it is again.
I know, right? Now we can literally all die happy.
