Longtime film and television actor Dan Frazer, best known for his role as Captain Frank McNeil on the 1970s television series Kojak, has died in New York. He was 90.
According to the IBTimes, Dan’s daughter, Susanna Frazer, said her father died of cardiac arrest at his Manhattan home on Friday. She described him as a “very truthful, naturalistic actor.”
A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as well as an adviser to the Workshop Theater, Frazer first started playing character roles in various television series in the 1950s.
In addition to Kojack, Frazer appeared in numerous shows including The Phil Silvers Show, Car 54, The Untouchables, Route 66, The F.B.I., Barney Miller and Law & Order.
Dan’s film debut came in 1963 when he took on the role of Father Murphy in Sidney Poitier’s Lilies of the Field . Later films included Take the Money and Run (1969), Cleopatra Jones (1973), and Deconstructing Harry (1997).
Frazer was last seen onscreen in 2010 movie The Pack , with Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss.
