‘Duck Dynasty’: Phil Robertson’s Gay Comments Shouldn’t Be Allowed, Says Todd Chrisley [Video]

Phil Robertson’s gay comments created a firestorm of controversy over the Duck Dynasty TV show almost a year ago. The family is standing firm behind the Duck Commander patriarch, but Todd Chrisley believes his opinion “hurt others” in the homosexual community.

In a related report by the Inquisitr , Phil Robertson’s family believes America could collapse based upon the societal changes taking places and the decisions being made.

When A&E temporarily banned Phil from Duck Dynasty, the public outcry went both ways. Although many in the LGBT community supported his banishment, there were some who believed that Robertson should be free to have his opinion be heard without fear of losing his job in the reality TV show.

Apparently, Todd Chrisley is not one of those people. When Chrisley was asked about Phil Robertson’s gay comments, he responded by claiming that the Christian faith should require them to not say such things.

“I think if I were to comment on that, I would probably have the same level of backlash just from a different direction. I think that Phil has a right to voice his opinion. I don’t think that none of us has a right to voice an opinion that would hurt others. The Lord we serve tells us that we are to lift our brother up, we’re not to kick them.”

The Chrisley Knows Best star is married with several children, but the rumor mill has been calling Todd Chrisley gay in recent times. Although he did not respond to such speculation, he’s said to have touched on the subject by noting that the Duck Dynasty ratings were far below his own show.

“We opened the season premiere with 5.6 million. Obviously people like what they’re seeing and we’re very blessed for that. You can let all the other rumors fly but get the numbers right.”

Phil Robertson’s son Willie recently spoke about the controversy surrounding his father, and he even noted that some of the previous comments were a “mistake.”

“We stood by our father. We stood by him as a family again,” Willie Robertson said. “Some of the things he said in that interview I didn’t agree with and I’ve even said so, and he’s even come out and said, ‘Yeah, that was a mistake.’ With things leading to bestiality, it was a mixed bag there of things. And then he quoted a Scripture, and that’s what’s in the Scripture. What I want people to know and what we’ve said over and over and over is that we love everybody.”

Do you agree with Todd Chrisley that “none of us,” including Phil Robertson, “has a right to voice an opinion that would hurt others”?
