Chrissy Teigen aided those in the NYC protest by hiring food trucks to feed them. The model and her musician husband, John Legend, decided to feed the thousands of protesters who were out in the freezing cold streets of New York City to take a stand for Eric Garner and Michael Brown, two black men who were killed by white police officers this year. According to the Huffington Post , Teigen and Legend hired “several” food trucks , including Kimchi Taco Truck and Milk Truck NYC, to give free meals to those who were determined to be heard.
Thankful protesters were able to grab a free meal, and many took to social media to thank Teigen and Legend. According to the report, John Legend has been very vocal about what happened in Ferguson, and even co-wrote a song with lyrics referencing the event. The song, entitled Glory , will be featured in the upcoming film Selma.
“That’s why Rosa sat on the bus, that’s why we walk through Ferguson with our hands up. When it go down, we woman and man up. They say, ‘Stay down,’ and we stand up,” read the lyrics. As previously reported by the Inquisitr , Legend has also spoken out about the Eric Garner case , posting tweets following the decision not to indict the officer who choked him to death.
Chrissy Teigen responded to the protest by sending food trucks, and even said that she and Jon Legend wished they could have been there.

Oh, and for anyone else that might have had a problem with Teigan and Legend’s generosity, the couple said that any extra food was given to the homeless.

According to UPI , the food trucks lined up near Trader Joe’s Union Square. Many people were thankful to have the support of the couple, even if they weren’t there in the flesh.
