Mariah Carey didn’t many positive responses to her live performance of “All I Want for Christmas is You” during NBC’s Christmas in Rockefeller Center , and for good reason.
Although the songstress decided to forgo taping her performance in order to rock out the song live during the aforementioned holiday special, that doesn’t necessarily mean people were thoroughly impressed with her decision. Carey may have an exceptionally strong voice, but it didn’t shine through on December 3.

According to the New York Daily News , Mariah Carey was reportedly supposed to pre-tape her rendition of “All I Want for Christmas is You,” which turns 20-years-old this year. As always, an anonymous source was on-hand to capture all the drama as it unfolded. In short: NBC wasn’t exactly thrilled that Carey decided to skip out on the taping.
“The diva was supposed to pre-tape her performance of Christmas songs like she’s done before. The show is live Wednesday, but producers have learned their lesson with her over the years and that they must pre-tape her. She always shows up late. On Tuesday night, she didn’t show up at all. Her camp kept saying she was ten minutes away, which was technically true because her hotel, The Palace Hotel, where she was staying, is about a 10-minute ride away from 30 Rock. But she was not en route!”
Hollywood Life points out that Mariah Carey’s live performance resulted in some unhappy viewers , many of whom decided to voice their frustrations on Twitter. Judging from the handful of comments embedded below. Mariah should steer clear of social media for the next few days. You know, for the sake of her ego.
