There’s a buzz in the air surrounding tonight’s NFL matchup between the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets, but it has nothing to do with Tim Tebow’s controversial “ Jesus Jersey .”
Following the game’s first two quarters of play, Jessie James, the country-singing girlfriend of Broncos’ Wide Reciever Eric Decker, is slated to take the field to perform the halftime show.
As CBSSports.com pointed out, Decker seems ecstatic that his lady friend will be out on the field singing. When asked Wednesday about the halftime show, the star wide-out feigned ignorance, saying:
“Who’s the halftime entertainer? Some lady, a beautiful girl?” he asked according to an AP news story. “I’m excited. I wish I could sneak out, but don’t tell Coach Fox. I’ve got somebody recording it for me.”
Despite Decker’s enthusiasm, one thing assured reporters he wouldn’t do is emulate Buffalo Bills receiver David Nelson, who caught a touchdown pass last Sunday, then went all the way to the other end of the field to hand the ball to his girlfriend, a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
In Decker’s case, his special lady will be seated in a luxury box, making the trek slightly more difficult.
“[Jessie is] going to be up in one of those suites,” Decker explained. “So, I’m not climbing the wall and trekking up there. Maybe I’ll throw it to her.”
