LA Dodgers’ Jeff Kent will announce his retirement from baseball Thursday at Dodger Stadium.
Jeff Kent spent 17 years in major league baseball, and holds the career home-run record for second basemen with 351.
Kent won the National League Most Valuable Player award in 2000 with the San Francisco Giants, and drove in 90 or more runs from 1997 to 2005, a streak unprecedented for a second baseman. Kent is a five-time All-Star and his 537 career doubles put him 27th on the all-time doubles list.
His greatest success came with the Giants, where he played with Barry Bonds, although the two famously clashed. It was at the Giants he made his only World Series appearance in 2002, hitting three home runs.
He’ll be replaced at second base by Blake DeWitt.
