Ben Affleck Insists ‘Batman V Superman’ Won’t Be Another ‘Daredevil’

Ben Affleck has insisted that Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice won’t be another Daredevil.

Affleck’s casting as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Zack Snyder’s hugely anticipated blockbuster was met by a storm of criticism across the internet when it was confirmed several months ago. This was mainly because Affleck’s previous attempt to infiltrate the superhero genre, which came in 2003’s Daredevil, was roundly mocked by both critics and audiences.

But Affleck, who is currently hard at work promoting his most recent cinematic effort, David Fincher’s Gone Girl, is adamant that he hasn’t made the same mistake again, and the sequel to Man Of Steel is going to be a success. During a new interview with NPR to promote his recently released thriller, Affleck revealed that there is just too much talent involved in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice for that to happen.

“[Batman] was written by Chris Terrio, who wrote Argo , who’s not a comic guy. And it’s directed by Zach Snyder, who’s a incredibly magical sort of visual stylist who’s steeped in the comic world. And you have this sandwich of talents. I felt very confident about it…. I thought it would be nice to make one of these movies really, really good.”

Meanwhile, Affleck also admitted that he does harbour a lot of regret for how Daredevil ultimately turned out, and he declared that if he believed Terrio, Snyder and himself were making another film of the same quality, then he would be protesting too.

“Indeed I have regrets about Daredevil. I have regrets about all the movies that I don’t think were executed properly…. Look, if I thought we were remaking Daredevil, I’d be out there picketing myself… and that goes for other movies as well that I haven’t been happy with. You know, I’m hard on myself and I have exacting standards and I want to do excellent work and I don’t always succeed, but I think you have to start out with that drive.”

The astounding performance of Gone Girl at the box office proves that Affleck still possesses clout when it comes to the enticing audiences into theatres. Gone Girl has grossed over $38 million in its opening weekend, just beating out its nearest contender, Annabelle, which took in $37.2 million. Not only has been well received by critics, but it is now also the David Fincher’s most successful opening weekend ever.
