Another terrifying pit bull attack has taken place this week. A Detroit man lost his hands and feet after being pinned to the ground and mauled by a pack of 12 pit bulls .
Responding cops, who had to shoot several of the dogs, killing one, managed to lure the others back into the house where they lived.
The victim who was set upon by the pit bull pack was found in the yard with no clothes on.
The incident, in which the unlicensed pit bulls including four puppies somehow got out of the house, occurred last Thursday evening at about 10 p.m. The victim is listed in critical condition at a local hospital. Apparently, the owner was not at home at the time, but the next morning, he was detained by police and could face felony charges for harboring vicious animals.
An investigation by detectives is underway. One detective indicated that the animals appeared to be malnourished and lived in deplorable conditions.
According to the Detroit Free Press , the victim, who lost a lot of blood in the attack in which his limbs were chewed off, “could speak, barely, when police and emergency workers got to him, but he was unable to provide his name. It’s unclear why he was naked or if the dogs had ripped his clothes off, and it’s unclear what led to the attack or why the man was in the area.”
The unidentified victim is about 40 to 50 years old. A neighbor said that he “heard someone whimpering, yelling for help… I couldn’t see him. All I could see was a pack of dogs… They was aggressive. They didn’t stop. I could just see them tugging, you know, pulling at him.”
Perhaps in an understatement, Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody described the dogs as “pretty vicious” and added that when the cops arrived at the scene of the pit bull attack, “the man was kind of pinned down…. That’s why they had to do what they had to do, because his life was in jeopardy… the officers very tactfully tried to draw the dogs away to get to the man and had to shoot one.”
Animal control seized the other 11 other pit bulls, which will put down because of the violent nature of the encounter.
