North Carolina school shooting update: An argument between two male students at Albemarle High School is believed to have been the cause of the North Carolina school shooting , according to police reports. One student was reportedly shot in the “lower extremities.” The suspected shooter ultimately surrendered to the police, Albemarle Police Chief William Halliburton told reporters. After the lockdown order was lifted, all students at the North Carolina high school were evacuated and sent home. The condition of the school shooting victim is not known at this time. The teenager was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Albemarle High School is approximately 40 miles east of Charlotte, North Carolina. It is currently unclear if the school shooter was a student. Officials at the North Carolina school are urging parents to go to the North Albermarle Baptist Church to await news and release of students instead of converging on the Albemarle school campus. The church is located at 401 Park Ridge Road, about one block from the school.
