Jackie Chan’s Son, Jaycee Chan, Could Face China’s Death Penalty Over Marijuana In Worst Case Scenario

Jackie Chan’s son is in plenty of hot water over being arrested , but is it possible that Jaycee Chan could face the death penalty due to marijuana?

In a related report by The Inquisitr , Jackie Chan’s action movie career has the actor claiming that his stunt work is not quite dead yet. He plans on shifting his career toward move dramatic roles although if he does action he may use stunt doubles and CGI effects when necessary. It’s already said that Jackie will not be in Expendables 4 .

According to police reports, Jaycee Chan was caught with over three and a half ounces of marijuana in his possession in addition to testing positive for the illegal drug in his system. What makes his case even worse is that Jaycee could potentially face another three years behind bars if he’s convicted of harboring drug users and accommodating drug users, which in China is considered is a more serious offense than consuming drugs.

Since Nov 2013, China has been on an anti-corruption, anti-drug, and anti-prostitution campaign led by President Xi Jinping. In an ironic twist, Jackie Chan also happens to be China’s narcotics ambassador, which means he represents the entire nation in regards to their anti-drug policy. This puts Jaycee in the line of fire since they are attempting to draw a hard line for any drug users and it’s possible that, as a celebrity, the younger Chan may be made an example of.

Lately, Chinese police have been cracking down on drugs-related offenses and thousands have been arrested in Beijing alone. It’s said the courts have been handing down stiffer penalties, and in the worst case scenario Jaycee could be executed by China’s death penalty if he’s convicted.

Yang Fengrui, Deputy Secretary General of the National Narcotics Control Commission, claims that the general population in China actually supports executing marijuana traffickers:

“The Chinese masses applaud giving the death penalty to drug traffickers. Drug trafficking has severe social consequences. It’s equal to killing people.”

That scenario does seem unlikely since Jackie Chan is a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and holds some sway with China’s government due to his influence. Even if Jaycee Chan only serves several years in jail, it’s very likely Jaycee’s acting career is over since a long list of entertainment management firms recently signed a deal with police saying they would not work with celebrities who break China’s drug laws.
