In one of the most assured wins of the season, Liverpool FC of the English Premier League defeated AC Milan of Italian Serie A 2-0 in a European Champions League. The match concluded with Liverpool scoring 2 goals.
Incidentally, Liverpool FC winning the match against AC Milan wasn’t that euphoric since the team had already won Group A in the Champions League, even before the match had officially begun. This is because Olympiacos had managed to defeat Manchester City. The latter could have been the only football club who could have offered a tough challenge to Liverpool FC, if not sped past it.
Liverpool has been a very aggressive team from the very beginning of this season, reported Charlotte Observer . Such form and fitness allowed Liverpool to gain a critical advantage over a slight error of judgment by Michael Essien of AC Milan. Skillfully intercepting a rather poorly attempted pass by Michael, midfielder Joe Allen knocked the second rebound into the goal in the 18 th minute of the game. Later in the game, Suso scored another goal from twenty yards away to make the final score 2-0.
The Guinness Champions Cup has been so far exceptionally good for Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool FC with victories over Olympiakos and Manchester City all-but guaranteeing progression to the knock out stages. AC Milan on the other hand, has had a bitter opening to the tournament owing to a crushing loss at the hands of Manchester City and Jovetic. They suffered a brutal 5-1 demolition early on in the season and it must have surely dampened their spirits.
Liverpool’s victory over AC Milan now means that the club’s tour of the States will extend into the third week. But more importantly, the clash with Louis van Gaal’s United will be Liverpool’s fifth game on US soil within a short span of just 12 days, reported Liverpool Echo .
The clash between Liverpool FC and New United promises to be a high-octane one. But there is another reason for the match to be of special interest, Van Gaal himself. Van Gaal came quite close to joining Liverpool FC in 2012 before Brendan Rodgers successfully persuaded owners Fenway Sports Group to shelve plans to appoint the Dutchman as sporting director.
Speculations aside, Liverpool FC has been truly dazzling in the entire season of the Champions League. With such a form, the upcoming match with New United will surely be a nail-biting one.
