Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the upcoming sequel to the highly-successful Call of Duty first person shooter franchise. The new developer, Sledgehammer Games, has revealed details about the forthcoming title, including its incredible updated visual engine.

According to TotalXBox.com , Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare looks much better than its predecessor, Call of Duty: Ghosts –which just received the third of four downloadable content packages , Invasion. The in-development title, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare , received a massive technological overhaul, providing much better graphics than previous Call of Duty titles. And apparently, Slegdehammer is “still optimizing” the game.

Sledgehammer has been working on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare for three years now, so it’s no surprise that fans will be getting an extremely polished game, especially on the XBox console. Chief operating and development officer Michael Condrey says that the new Call of Duty title is “super-exciting, because you see the potential of the new hardware platform, what it can enable. And you know that you’re going into a period where you have to figure out the how. How do I do all these cool new things? And you have the excitement of the R&D process.” He went on to add that the new Call of Duty game is “definitely ahead of where the franchise was last year.”

According to Gamer Headlines , Sledgehammer consulted experts in military fields and people who work in future technologies in order to ensure that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare would be as realistic as possible. You can see a bit of the behind the scenes footage in the video above. The new Call of Duty game will be set forty years in the future. A military corporation has taken control of the country. Kevin Spacey plays the primary antagonist in charge of the corporation. The player will take control of a single protagonist to overthrow the evil company and restore balance to the nation. In the past, Call of Duty titles have focused on multiplayer mode, which is what the consumers typically want. But Sledgehammer, who is developing a Call of Duty game for the first time, wanted to make a more robust single player experience to ensure the mode wasn’t just an afterthought like previous Call of Duty games.

The hope is that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is both a huge graphic upgrade from Call of Duty: Ghosts and a huge leap in story quality and gameplay. Call of Duty: Ghosts is widely considered to be one of the worst Call of Duty games published so far.
