Despite Lea Michele’s best efforts to slam rumors of there being a feud between her and Glee co-star Naya Rivera, it seems like there’s still something cooking between them.
Lea Michele has been in the media constantly throughout the year due to the death of her Glee co-star and boyfriend Cory Monteith. The only hint of a scandal attached to her name was the persistent rumors that there was an art imitating life wedge between Lea and co-star Naya Rivera. After the star squashed those rumors, Michele found herself on the other side of another gossip item that had her moving on from Monteith with a former gigolo named Matthew Paetz.
Now Hollywood Life is reporting that Naya Rivera thinks the whole situation with Lea Michele’s new love, particularly his hidden past, is “hilarious.” This suggests that the feud is far from over.
A source told the site:
“The feud between the two is still fresh and Naya is aware of the guy that Lea is dating – and what he has been involved in – and she thinks that its hilarious that Lea is in this situation.”
So why does Rivera find the whole thing hilarious ? The source explains:
“It’s funny to her that Lea has a man that people usually pay for his affections, since that is exactly the kind of person who Naya thinks can handle her.”
Apparently when Matthew Paetz worked for cowboys4angels, he charged women $17,500 for a week of his “companionship.” Since the news leaked that Matthew was romancing Lea, cowboys4angels removed Paetz from their page. Additionally, Michele’s main squeeze said the dates were simply research for his “work as a love coach.”
Aside from his endeavors as a professional companion and love coach, Paetz seemed to really work his magic on Lea Michele on the set of her music video for her new single “On My Way,” which he was featured in. This is the first time Michele has been linked to anyone since the death of her boyfriend Monteith.
As for Lea and Naya, it’s said that their falling out happened earlier in the year because Rivera was throwing tantrums over screen time. As the months passed, more rumors suggested that she was becoming difficult to work with. Due to her behavior, it was believed that Naya would be written off and that she was fired from the show. Despite Fox denying these rumors, Rivera was nowhere to be seen in the last few episodes of Glee .
Of the feud, Glee creator Ryan Murphy brushed it off by telling People magazine:
“I don’t think there is a story between Naya and Lea. Naya’s coming back next year, Lea’s coming back next year – anybody ever in that cast has an open invitation to come back and finish the character they so beautifully started.”
Although Lea Michele has addressed the rumors of the rift between she and Naya, there’s no expectation that she will speak about her romance with Matthew Paetz.
