, an actress best known for her roles in Welcome to the Dollhouse and both films in the Princess Diaries franchise, is planning to wed longtime girlfriend Caroline Murphy now that her home state of New York has legalized same-sex marriage .
Though the pair have been engaged for three years, Matarazzo says she isn’t rushing to be one of the first same-sex couples to be legally married in New York.
“I always wanted a wedding” she revealed to the Associated Press in an interview published Tuesday. “Not a trip to city hall.”
Murphy, an aspiring singer working on her first album, explained that she and Matarazzo had planned to wed in California two years earlier, but Proposition 8, which eliminated the rights of same-sex couples to marry, stopped them from tying the knot.
After marriage, the couple plan on having a big family, as both want to experience pregnancy and also adopt (Matarazzo is adopted), Us Weekly reports.
“I can’t wait to meet our children,” Matarazzo told E!. “We’ve always talked that Caroline would have a child first, and then I will go.”
