‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Box Office Numbers Slay ‘Godzilla’ But Not The Older X-Men Movies

The X-Men: Days Of Future Past box office numbers are slaying all of the competition, including the mighty Godzilla .

In a related report by The Inquisitr , check out our review of X-Men: Days Of Future Past . If you have already seen the movie, and do not understand the end credits scene, then I suggest checking out our X-Men secret ending guide to X-Men: Apocalypse . Gamers and comic book fans will also appreciate how the video game version of the X-Men movie has a plot that matches the comics more closely.

If you have seen the movie already then you will not be surprised at how good the X-Men box office numbers are so far. Just in the United States the film pulled in massive $90.7 million, making it one of the best openings for the movie series so far. If you include the foreign opening sales of $171 million, the X-Men movie pulled in a gross of $261.7 million overall.

But at this point I’m going to pull a bad news Barrett and list off how the new X-Men movie failed. First off, Godzilla’s opening weekend still stomped X-Men into the dust, earning $93.1 million. That’s not all, though. Captain America 2 shielded $95 million and the Amazing Spider-Man 2 swung a web into $91.6 million.

The best X-Men box office numbers for an opening do not even belong to this new film. The 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand still holds that title with $102.7 million. But the good news is that it beat most of the more recent offerings, which includes X-Men: First Class (which opened with $55.1 million) and The Wolverine , which opened with $53.1 million.

Here is a list of all the other movies in the top 10 for this weekend:

1. X-Men: Days Of Future Past – $90.7 million 2. Godzilla – $31.4 million 3. Blended – $14.2 million 4. Neighbors – $13.9 million 5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – $7.8 million 6. Million Dollar Arm – $7 million 7. The Other Woman – $3.6 million 8. Rio 2 – $2.5 million 9. Chef – $2.2 million 10. Heaven Is For Real – $1.9 million

Are you surprised the X-Men box office numbers did not take the crown for the entire series?
