Venom Movie: Could He And Carnage Share The Screen?

A Venom movie is apparently in the works like the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man spinoff Sinister Six . Being extremely early in the process, the idea was run by the producers of the series and they felt it was a “great idea.”

After the critical failure and fan hatred from Spider-Man 3 with Tobey Maguire, it most likely seemed obvious to Sony that Sam Raimi hadn’t focused on the villain everybody wanted to see. Instead, Venom ended up being Eddie Brock in a black suit with tendrils, and we only saw Venom’s face maybe twice. It was a letdown that Sony seems bent on fixing after the Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone reboot.

For the uninitiated, Venom was the result of an alien substance that latches on to its host and magnifies his most prominent personality traits. In the case of Eddie Brock, his thirst for revenge against Spider-Man fueled him to become a villain. Carnage was the result of the substance taking over the body of serial killer Cletus Kasady. According to rumors surrounding the eventual Venom movie, the two characters will apparently face off in a future installment of the Amazing Spider-Man franchise.

Does this mean that Venom and Carnage might also be in the Sinister Six movie? We don’t know yet, and with the impending release date of May 4, 2018 having been allegedly confirmed but not attached to anything the producers have announced, it could be a few years before we get any solid answers.

It has been hinted that Spider-Man might only get a minor role in the Venom movie, because producer Avi Arad told a publication recently:

“We did Venom in the UK as a special issue based on the ’94 show: the three-parter. And I think if you check the record book it was probably one of the best-selling videos. Way before DVD. Because the character is interesting. Even Venom is not – we call them villains, but he’s really not a villain.”

The film may center on Eddie Brock dealing with the alien substance in his personal life, an average person simply trying to get by with a crazed alter ego he can’t quite control. Spider-Man could only have a cameo appearance so as not to take the focus off of the title character.

Producer Matt Tolmach told the press about the planned window for a Sinister Six and Venom movie release date:

“Before we know what we do with Spider-Man 4, we’re going to do Sinister Six, Venom and Spider-Man 3. There is going to be a lot of crossover in those movies. So we’re just not at Spider-Man 4, because we still have a whole other Spider-Man movie and two other movies. So we don’t know yet what [Spider-Man 4] is going to be.”

Could Carnage play a key role in the eventual Venom movie?
