Kid Cudi dropped a surprise album this week, but listeners got an even bigger surprise when they got to the song “Too Bad I Have To Destroy You Now” and heard the Cleveland rapper appear to take aim at his mentor Kanye West.

Cudi was part of Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music for a spell before leaving in April of last year, and while Cudi said everything is cool between him and Kanye, the song may indicate otherwise.

The song appears to delve into the animosity that grew between Kanye and Kid Cudi:

“Things changed, for the good He watched my back until the world started knowin’ my name This should be in the Bible, middle finger up to the people who don’t like you Who have no valid reason to say they never liked you.”

If it really is aimed at Kanye, it would indicate that the relationship between the two has soured. Kanye was a big part of Kid Cudi’s early success, promoting the rapper and appearing on a number of songs with him.

Whether the dis is legit or not, Kid Cudi seems to be enjoying the success of his surprise album drop . Cudi began dropping hints about the album late on Monday, tweeting: Tickets to Copernicus Landing will be available for purchase via Itunes in the next 2 hours.” and “Time to make the world stand still.”

Then, at midnight the album Satellite Flight: The Journey To Mother Moon was released. It followed a trend set by Beyonce, who at the end of last year released her latest album with little notice.

Kid Cudi said the latest album connects with his most famous work to date, Man On The Moon .

“I just know that people are really gonna love this music [because] it’s perfect and brings them right back to the Man on the Moon theme,” Kid Cudi said in an interview MTV. “It starts where Indicud left off perfectly, and takes you right into MOTM III . It’s like a TV show that ends with that cliffhanger.

“The album ends that way, where you get that one song and before you know it, the song is over and the album is over, but there’s a ‘to be continued…’ There’s more to the story.”

Kid Cudi hasn’t said whether “Too Bad I Have To Destroy You Now” is aimed at Kanye West.
