Famous social artist site deviantART (Officially spelled with a lower case “d” and the word “art” is all in capital letters), which is also one of the largest artist networks in the world, is holding a contest that caters both to artists as well as fans of the Final Fantasy XIII Series.
Both deviantART and Square Enix are presenting the Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Contest . The contest is based off the upcoming game’s ability to customize the main protagonist, Lightning, in ways never done before. Therefore, members of deviantART are given the unique challenge to create an original piece of art, either it be traditional or digital, of Lightning customized to their own liking in regards to appropriateness.
The contest itself is being judged by one of Final Fantasy fame, Tetsuya Nomura, who is one of the character designers at Square Enix.
As of now, thousands of entries have entered into the contest and more are being added at this moment until deadline on February 20th. The grand prize is worth the risk for such an endeavor.

Also, the three grand prize winners will have their artwork featured on a billboard on the deviantART homepage which will link back to their profiles for maximum exposure and advertising.
The winners of the contest will be announced from March 7th to the 9th, one for each day.
