George Takei, a Japanese-American actor best known for his role in the TV series Star Trek , is headed to Broadway.
Takei, whose recent response to Tracy Morgan’s anti-gay comments created a buzz, is set to appear in the 2012 musical “Allegiance” along with Tony Award winner Lea Salonga.
In the meantime, the 74 year old actor- well known for his parodies- has released some humorous audition videos for two other musicals- as a part of his “The Road to Broadway” web series.
In the hilarious videos, Takei explains why he would be a perfect fit to star in the Broadway musicals Sister Act and Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark .
“Spider-Man, Spider-Man. George Takei should be Spider-Man,” sings George to the tune of the famous comic book’s cartoon series, adding: “Not only do I have great vocals – I’ve got great insurance.”

In addition to his Broadway work, Takei also recently took on a role as an economic professor in the forthcoming Tom Hanks film, Larry Crowne – scheduled to hit theaters on July 1st.
