Phil Robertson will be supported by Chick Fil A Day 2013 as “Chick Phil A Day,” according to the latest Duck Dynasty news on the family.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , the I Stand With Phil petition points out that Miley Cyrus’ Adore You video seems like a double standard in the entertainment industry.

The Duck Commander is specifically being marketed for the new Chick Fil A Day with a Facebook page. The invitation asks people to “stand for free speech” and “sit for good food.” They also ask that people wear Duck Commander products (not Duck Dynasty, as that brand name is owned by A&E) or camouflage gear.

But this “ Chick Phil A Day ” is not officially created by the restaurant company. Instead, the Facebook page was created by Eric Odom, the director of interactive media for Grassfire.com, although Odom says he created this Phil Robertson support page as a private project based upon the similar reactions in the past:

“He compared the Robertson controversy to what happened to Chick-fil-A’s President Dan Cathy after he commented on gay marriage in 2012. I see them [the comments made by Robertson and Cathy] as similar, not discriminating. They are just expressing their opinions.”

Chick Fil A became a national story when it came out that they were donating money to groups who oppose homosexuality. This caused them to be condemned by the mass media and several companies stated they wouldn’t do business with them. In response, Chick Fil A appreciation day saw a massive turnout of supporters. The management was also very good about how this situation was handled, and even ordered restaurants to give free food to anyone protesting them . If anything, the event left a smear on the face on the LGBT community, especially after the video of a man harassing a drive through worker went public . (Ironically, he was fired for his usage of free speech.)

This is Chick Fil A’s official stance on homosexuality and political causes as of last year:

“A part of our corporate commitment is to be responsible stewards of all that God has entrusted to us. Because of this commitment, Chick-fil-A’s giving heritage is focused on programs that educate youth, strengthen families and enrich marriages, and support communities. We will continue to focus our giving in those areas. Our intent is not to support political or social agendas.”

Do you think Chick Fil A should officially endorse the support of the Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson?
