Justin Timberlake stopped his recent concert in Louisville briefly to allow a fan to propose to his girlfriend.
The fan, Josh Clemons, reached out to Timberlake’s people in November and asked if he could propose to his girlfriend, Kim Martin, at the concert. Timberlake, married Jessica Biel in Italy last October, obliged.
After performing “That Girl” from The 20/20 Experience – Part 1 , Timberlake invited the couple up onstage.
“Josh and Kim, why don’t you make your way up here,” he said before telling the couple, “Say hello to Louisville.”
Timberlake then tells Martin, “Josh called me earlier. He’s got something he wants to tell you.” The 32-year-old then walked off the stage, but not before popping back up to reposition the couple slightly. Clemons then got down on one knee and asked Martin to marry him as the crowd — and Timberlake — cheered and applauded.
Josh Clemons told WDRB that he and Kim Martin are big Justin Timberlake fans, and he knew back in June that he was going to get tickets to the concert. After about 100 emails and phone calls, Clemons was able to get in touch with Timberlake’s manager .
“Friday we finally caught each other on the phone and said Justin had a big plan and wanted to know if I was ready to do it big and I said definitely,” Clemons said.
“I was just like there is no way, no way this is happening right now and I got up there and it was and I was in total shock,” Martin said. “I couldn’t do anything, but just stand there and oh my goodness.”
Clemon’s daughter Mia was also at the concert, and the three of them were able to meet Timberlake backstage and get autographs from the Grammy winner.
“He was just very involved in this,” Martin said. “I was very surprised he took initiative to help him so much and the way he talked with us, the way he talked with Mia.”
Clemons added, “Anything is possible. You never know until you try.”
