A Red Sox ad is thanking St. Louis Cardinals fans after their World Series win.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , some of the famous Red Sox beards were shaved as part of a Gillette event , which some fans thought to be controversial. But at least there wasn’t another bearded Boston riot .

At first glance some people might be surprised by the Red Sox ad , which was a full page advertisement in Tuesday’s St. Louis Post-Dispatch. A photograph in the Red Sox ad features two boys clothed in the outfits for both the Red Sox and the Cardinals. The caption reads, “From one great baseball town to another.” The idea for the Red Sox ad may have originated from the world of hockey because a Chicago Blackhawks ad in the Boston Globe thanked the Boston Bruins fans after the Stanley Cup Finals was won by the Blackhawks.

So the Boston Red Sox ad is not intended as an insult to St. Louis Cardinal fans. In fact, you could say it adds a touch of class to and a fitting end to a great World Series in the MLB, where the Cardinals lost lost six games against the Red Sox.

The Red Sox ad is signed by Red Sox owner John Henry, chairman Tom Werner and CEO Larry Lucchino. It reads:

“On behalf of our partners and the entire Red Sox organization, thank you St. Louis. The warm Midwestern welcome you extended to our team and our fans during this year’s hard-fought World Series is truly appreciated. Your region, its people, and the entire Cardinals organization represent everything that’s great about baseball.”

“We share the same colors and rich, storied baseball history that stretches from Musial and Williams, to Molina and Pedroia. We’re both home to the most loyal, passionate fans in the game. And the four World Series in which we’ve gone head-to-head are still etched in the memories of those who love our sport.”

“So we tip our hats to each and every one of you. We look forward to seeing you again next August. Let’s hope that it’s just a prelude to meeting again in October.”

What do you think about the Red Sox ad?
