Ride Tor The Constitution is a planned trucker protest event that focuses on the 2013 government shutdown.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , one trucker protest idea was canceled with the originator named Earl Conlon claiming he was only trying to “ruffle feathers” in the media.

But the original source for the story, U.S. News & World Report , also claims the trucker protest planned to “seek the arrest of congressmen for allegedly disregarding the Constitution.” One report alleges Truckers Ride For The Constitution intends to display a “show of force.” But Ben Pam, one of the official organizers of Truckers Ride for the Constitution , claims their group has never made such claims and reporters never attempted to contact their leadership for verification.

Earl Conlon apparently indicated in an email he was not a spokesperson for Truckers Ride for the Constitution even though reports described him as “handling logistics for the protest,” which is not true. In fact, Earl Conlon isn’t even a trucker and he’s described as being “a point of contact for drivers at a meeting place for the start of the convoy.” The organization notes that Earl Conlon attempted to be involved in a 2007 protest but his involvement failed to produce results.

This is how Earl Conlon explains his actions regarding the trucker protest :

“It’s politics. I did what the senators do. I said one thing did another. It was just my way of getting your attention.”

Groups not associated with Truckers Ride For The Constitution and Truckers To Shut Down America are allegedly spreading false information. According to their website, they merely want to organize a peaceful protest in order to deliver grievances to Congress that request they honor their oath by upholding the Constitution.

Maryland State Police spokesman Marc Black says, “As long as they are not breaking the law, we are going to allow it.”

Still, this trucker protest isn’t a hippie peace movement, since they also clearly say: “If we do not rise up, the alternative is a horrifying collapse and a violent revolution.”
