In the ongoing Aaron Hernandez murder investigation, state police divers spent all day apparently searching a Connecticut lake for the gun used in the crime.

Although law enforcement authorities declined to comment about what they were looking for, the dive team scoured the bottom of Pine Lake in Hernandez’s hometown of Bristol, Connecticut, reportedly trying to locate a.45 caliber Glock pistol. So far, however, divers have come up empty.

Harford’s WFSB reports that “Officials said crews spent all day at the lake, and could possibly search the body of water Tuesday and beyond. Massachusetts and local police stood watch as divers in scuba gear using special technology combed a certain section using rope as their guide.”

Bristol is also coincidentally the home of ESPN.

According to what a source told the Hartford Courant , “police had been tipped off to the location. The pond is a short distance from the Bristol home owned by Hernandez’s uncle, where police have conducted multiple searches since the arrest of Hernandez and two other Bristol men, Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz.”

Aaron Hernandez has been charged with murder and firearms violations in connection with the death of his friend Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player whose body was found in an industrial park near the NFL star’s home in North Attleboro, Mass., on June 17. He is currently being held without bail in Bristol County, Mass. Jail, and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Hernandez is also reportedly under a separate criminal investigation for a 2012 drive-by double homicide in Boston last year. The ex-New England Patriots star tight end is also being sued in civil court for personal injuries for allegedly shooting a man in Florida after they argued in a Miami strip club. The Patriots released the star tight end within hours of his arrest.
