Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Footage Shown Off At PAX

When Metal Gear Sold: Ground Zeroes was first shown off to select press earlier on in the week, attendees were forbidden from even talking about what they saw, much less recording video, so fans were left waiting for their turn to see the footage.

Fortunately, the wait wasn’t long at all.

At PAX Prime on Saturday, series creator Hideo Kojima unveiled the very first look at Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes , which was the same demo shown off to press earlier on in the week. Most of the video sets up a narrative, but there’s a tiny chunk of gameplay in there.

Kojima has been teasing the power of the FOX Engine for quite awhile on Twitter and elsewhere, so the expectations for what the engine’s flagship title would like like were fairly high. Judging by what we’ve seen from the demo, it surpasses expectations and then some.

Konami hasn’t officially talked about platforms, but the end of the trailer shows logos of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. However, the actual system that the demo was running on was a PC. The trailer doesn’t reference PC, so it’s unclear whether or not Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes could be coming to that platform as well.

In addition to actually being able to see the game now, we also know a bit more about it, thanks to Kojima’s presentation. According to the developer, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be much more of an open world title than previous games, giving Snake–judging by the trailer, it looks like Big Boss, rather than Solid–a number of ways to tackle a situation.

Without further ado, you can check out 10 minutes worth of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes footage directly below.
