When it comes to the Big Bang Theory , it’s been previously pointed out that the show has moved further and further away from a comedy based on science and more towards a comedy about scientists trying to find love. It appears that at least the first couple of episodes of Big Bang Theory ‘s Season 9 are going to continue down this path, thanks to spoilers spilled out by showrunner Steve Molaro recently.
For those who didn’t catch the season finale yet… perhaps you should watch that because the show ended quite a while ago. We understand some people store shows on their DVRs for a while, so if you are one of those who don’t want to know what happened in the season finale, don’t read on. For those who know, or don’t know but are okay with finding out this way, Season 8 ended with Sheldon botching his marriage proposal to Amy and the two split up.
The Hollywood Reporter recently talked to Molaro and he talked about where he saw Amy and Sheldon’s relationship . “We don’t know exactly where they are but after five years, I think the answer is in the question. They have been dating, this is the fifth anniversary of their first date and she can’t even get through a make-out session without him thinking about television, so I understand her frustration,” The Big Bang Theory head man said.
Molaro also talked about how Amy likely took a step that Sheldon wasn’t expecting. “I don’t know if the length of time matters so much as the situation where Amy has taken a legitimate step back that he was not expecting. That’s really the headline here that we’ll be digging into.” Molaro added .
While the showrunner isn’t talking a whole lot about where Big Bang Theory is going to go in Season 9, he did seem to say that Sheldon and Amy’s story isn’t over. Molaro said that at least the start of next season in the Big Bang Theory will show Sheldon working to win Amy back. Molaro pointed out that Amy and Sheldon’s romance is also a bit on the rocks. The pair is driving to Las Vegas, but there is a bit of a chill in the air because of Leonard’s past romances. Whether or not either of these relationships will ever be able to be completely fixed will be something we’ll need to wait to see on next season’s Big Bang Theory episodes.
