Dan Dotson is recovering in a Palm Springs hospital after the Storage Wars star suffered a double brain aneurysm.

Dotson first started showing symptoms early on Monday, his wife Laura Dotson told TMZ. She said Dan started “asking weird questions in his sleep.” The Storage Wars auctioneer continued having symptoms when he woke, and ended up collapsing in the shower.

Laura said her husband suffered two aneurysms , one behind his eye and another in his neck.

He had surgery on Tuesday, but later in the week was doing better. His official website had a message to fans saying that he was recovering.

“Dan is doing remarkably well since his surgery,” the note read. “Thank you for your continued prayers and good thoughts.”

Dan Dotson has been in the auction business for 40 years, following in the footsteps of grandfather Sam Fancher who was a cattle and farm auctioneer in northwest Arkansas.

“At 11 years old he taught me to auctioneer. I was the youngest auctioneer in the [Northest] Arkansas,” Dotson noted on his official website. “I worked as an auctioneer over the next 4 summers and at age 16, I would skip school and go over to the Chino auction in California and sell furniture for an auctioneer named Merl Bernard.”

Dotson and his wife now operate American Auctioneers, which handles between 2,500 and 3,000 appraisals each year.

There is no word whether Dan Dotson will miss any time on Storage Wars , but he would not be the first star to leave the show. Last year, star Barry Weiss parted from the show, and in doing so exposed one of the biggest secrets — that all the auctions and lockers are staged for cameras.

“Are you kidding? Barry doesn’t even pay for the lockers he buys – the production company does,” a source told Radar Online .

Dan Dotson also led an effort to sue A&E if stars of Storage Wars did not receive a salary increase. He was recorded proposing that the cast stand together and sue the network.
