Peyton Manning , the star Colts QB who hasn’t missed a single game in his 13-year career, says NFL owners should have given more consideration to rehabilitating players before imposing the lockout , which he says has likely slowed his comeback from off-season neck surgery.

“The lockout didn’t allow me to work [with] my [Colts] therapist, Erin Barill, and I’m just not comfortable taking any chances with this thing,” Manning told ESPN, referring to his surgically repaired neck.”Erin knows me. He’s rehabbed me through two other surgeries and I think most people understand that once you build up a trust with your therapist, that’s the guy you want and need to work with.”

While he wouldn’t give specifics regarding his current limitations or throwing ability, 35-year-old Manning says he’s still working hard on his own and continuing rehab sessions even during this weekend’s Manning Passing Academy in Louisiana.

Manning, a 4-time MPV, has not yet signed his $23 million franchise tag but is expected to remain in Indianapolis this season barring unforeseen developments.
