Elin Nordegren saw her marriage to Tiger Woods fall apart thanks to a seemingly endless stream of mistresses, but now Elin has given her stamp of approval to Tiger’s latest beau.
Tiger and his new girlfriend, Olympian Lindsey Vonn, have gotten pretty serious since meeting at a charity event in 2012 and starting to date earlier this year. They confirmed the relationship via Facebook, saying they had “become very close” and asking for privacy “as an ordinary couple and continue to compete as athletes.”
Now Tiger and Vonn have been spending more time together, and Lindsey has even spent one-on-one time with Tiger’s kids, 5-year-old Sam and 4-year-old Charlie.
Sources have now told Page Six that Elin Nordegren is signing off on the relationship, saying she “really likes Lindsey and thinks she is a very good influence on Tiger.”
It’s more than just a symbolic stamp of approval, too. As part of the couple’s divorce proceeding, Elin must give explicit permission to have the children around any new girlfriends or dates or even Tiger’s female staff members.
But Elin seems to have warmed up nicely to Vonn, and the three reportedly have gone on outings together along with the kids.
The report of Elin’s approval of Lindsey Vonn seems to put to bed rumors that there was bad blood between the women. In early June reports said that Elin “hated” Vonn and was angry at Tiger for dating her.
“He doesn’t care about her, he’s so egotistical,” a source told Us Weekly at the time .
It could be a bit easier for Elin Nordegren to move on given that she’s found a new man of her own. She and coal magnate Chris Cline are building a $12 million home together. Elin also has a reported $100 million from her divorce settlement with Tiger.
