Jason Aldean and wife Jessica Ussery made a joint appearance recently, saying that despite the cheating scandal, the two aren’t willing to give up their 11-year marriage.
The 35-year-old country music star appeared on CBS This Morning Thursday with his 33-year-old wife to promote his annual Concert for the Cure (which benefits the Susan G. Komen Foundation), and the two were asked about Aldean’s recent infidelity.
The singer was photographed engaging in a steamy make-out session with American Idol alum Brittany Kerr in late September.
“I think we’re fine, you know? I think any time you go through anything like that, I mean, it’s tough,” Aldean said. “We’ve been together for a long time and through a lot of things together. Those are things that most people get to deal with in private, but we didn’t have the luxury of doing that.”
Aldean said that “any couple that’s been married for 30, 40, 50 years” faces tough moments, with Ussery chiming in “I would love to hear their story.”
The singer admitted, “It hasn’t always been roses.”
Aldean and Ussery were high school sweethearts, and are parents to two daughters: 9-year-old Keeley and 5-year-old Kendyl. According to Us Weekly , the couple have been “talking and working things out,” and that “Jason is trying to keep his family together.”
Aldean also admitted to Us Weekly in September that constant touring did put a strain on his marriage, and that it’s something he’ll “have to learn to deal with. Our lives got turned upside down and it’s been a learning process.”
“When there’s kids involved,” Aldean said, “that’s something you’ve always got to try and protect.”
