Rachel Bilson is ready to leave the baby bubble and get back to the real world for a bit.
The actress, who last month gave birth to daughter Briar Rose, made her first public appearance as a new mom this week when she was spotted picking up a lunch to-go at Tender Greens. The baby was born on October 29.
Bilson actually managed to keep her baby’s birth under wraps for a full week, not revealing until November 6 that the baby had been born.
“Both mother and baby are healthy and doing well,” her rep told E! News . “They are asking for privacy and subscribe to the No Kids Policy.”
That policy, which has been embraced by a number of other celebrities, calls on paparazzi to leave their children alone. Many photographers and news agencies have gotten on board with it as well.
Rachel Bilson and her longtime partner Hayden Christensen have tried to stay as quiet as possible throughout the pregnancy and birth. This was Rachel’s first time seen since the baby was born, and Hayden has only been spotted one other time.
But Bilson has been open about her desire to become a parent, saying earlier this year that she’s ready for that phase of her life.
“I’ve always wanted to be a mom,” she told Health magazine earlier this year. “I have always wanted kids. I can just see this little toddler waddling around the house.”
Rachel and Hayden have a bit of a disjointed relationship. They were once engaged but in 2008 broke it off, then got back together two years later. It’s unclear if they have plans to marry now, but appear quite content in their relationship. Sources say both of them were excited to have kids .
“They’ve both talked about this for awhile and are so excited,” a source said earlier this year. “Everyone is beyond thrilled for them.”
Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen may be trying to get as much time in with their baby as possible before they go back to work. Rachel will be seen in the fourth season of The CW’s Hart of Dixie early next year, while Christensen will appear in the movie American Heist .
