Popular media personality Jimmy Kimmel has once taken a jab Donald Trump. The talk host has consistently criticized Republicans and Trump allies on Jimmy Kimmel Live! even after his show faced a brief suspension last year.

During the January 15 monologue of his show, Kimmel mocked Trump, blaming the president for a chaotic start to 2026 as he is now threatening to use the Insurrection Act, raising concerns over federal overreach and unrest in Minnesota.

“At the end of last year, I had such high hopes for a better New Year,” Kimmel told his audience. “I really thought, ‘How could it get worse than 2025?’ Well, it can — and we’re only two weeks in. All hell has broken loose,” he said.

Kimmel noted that, following his surprise attack on Venezuela under ‘Operation Absolute Resolve,’ Trump is now targeting Greenland and increasing tensions over immigration enforcement.

The success of the Venezuelan attack helped America capture President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, First Lady Cilia Flores, from their Caracas residence on January 3, 2026, and bring them to New York to face trial on narcoterrorism and drug trafficking charges.

As the U.S. has taken over the administration of Venezuela temporarily, leaders of other major nations have expressed mixed reactions to the operation, with many questioning its legality.

The Irish Star reported that Kimmel highlighted how the political landscape under Trump’s leadership has rapidly changed early on in 2026. He listed what he called the administration’s most troubling developments so far.

“In just two weeks, President Trump has targeted Venezuela, expressed intentions toward acquiring Greenland, and is now considering deploying armed troops to Minneapolis,” the host noted.

These remarks come amid continuing protests in Minnesota over the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, who was killed by an ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agent on January 7, 2025.

Reports and video showed she was inside her car and trying to drive away when she was approached by three agents. Following a verbal confrontation, one ICE agent drew out his handgun and fired three shots, hitting Renee through the windshield.

The Trump administration claimed the agent acted in “self-defense” because she allegedly tried to hit him with her car.

Local leaders and media have criticized the government, alleging they falsely claimed Renee Good tried to injure ICE agent Jonathan Ross, who then shot her.

Kimmel mocked Trump after the shooting by referencing Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s line and displaying merchandise with the same message to ICE and the GOP during the opening of his talk show.

Holding up the shirt to cheers from the audience, the host said, “That is a shirt I want to see.” He then added, “To ICE, get the f— out of Minneapolis. Get the f— out of all of these cities.”

Jimmy Kimmel, who claims to place a high premium on facts, also omits the wife’s “drive, baby, drive” remarks and falsely claims she was inside the car, “Not only has the Trump administration iced local authorities out of the FBI’s investigation into the killing of Renee good,… pic.twitter.com/gus1UYrice

Viewers responded to Kimmel’s direct remarks with both support and concern, considering his history of the show being suspended after prior comments regarding the death of right‑wing activist Charlie Kirk in September 2025, who was fatally shot during a college campus event in Utah.
