Ever since Donald Trump returned to the White House as the American President for the second term, there have been some noticeable changes regarding his schedule. According to a New York Times investigation, in comparison to his first term, Trump has spent less time at the office, leading to a drop of 39 percent in official appearances.
Trump had made around 1,688 appearances within the first ten months of his first term. However, in his second term, the number has come down to 1,029. There is also a recorded delay in starting the events of each day. Previously, during his first term, office work started by 10:30 a.m. However, in the second term, there are reports of the President starting his day after midday.
The reports of Trump’s reduced schedule are especially important now after the news of his worsening health condition. For a while now, the President has been under tight scrutiny over health concerns, though his administration has maintained that he is doing great.
However, on multiple recent occasions, Trump was seen dozing off in the middle of important meetings, which did not really validate the claim of him being fine made by his aides. The President was visibly almost asleep during a press conference focusing on the effects of obesity on one’s health and energy.

Trump kept sitting with his eyes closed and only opened them when someone behind him collapsed and the media had to be taken out of the office. The video was circulated widely on the internet, with netizens showing concern about his health and asking the reason behind him dozing off in such an important gathering.
Besides this one, there have also been other instances where the President was captured with his eyes closed. However, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has firmly maintained that the President is in his best shape. Even after Trump had to go to his official medical checkup twice in six months, Leavitt did not say anything was wrong with his health.
Trump himself said that he had to do an MRI and then mentioned that the doctors told him the results were all good. However, an MRI is done only for certain conditions, and it was never clarified why Trump was said to have done an MRI.
Despite the lack of transparency about his health, Leavitt flatly claimed that they have been quite open about the same. Talking to the Daily Beast, Leavitt said, “Unlike the Biden White House, who covered up Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and hid him from the press, President Trump and his entire team have been open and transparent about the president’s health, which remains exceptional.”

She further added, “President Trump’s physician has released two detailed reports following both of his physical examinations as part of his ongoing health maintenance plan; and anyone who watches President Trump in his daily public events can clearly see he is in impressive physical and mental shape, with an unrelenting work ethic.”
However, her words clearly do not match reality. Moreover, Trump’s cognitive decline has also been in focus after he repeatedly trailed off mid-sentences, lacked coherence in his speeches, and failed to recognize people standing next to him. Psychologists have pointed out that these are alarming signs of dementia, though that has also been denied by Trump and his administration.
With reduced workload and fewer official appearances, Trump’s health concerns continue to be on the rise. He happens to be the oldest person elected to the presidency at 79 years of age, and the way he has been handling his duties clearly shows that his age is taking a toll on him and affecting the responsibilities he is supposed to handle.
