We’re all hanging into the results rolling in from today (yay! and eek!), so I thought that you might be interested in one such celeb who did not publicly back a candidate today : Carrie Underwood. In fact, she told TV Guide that she loses respect for celebs who chose to support a candidate and tell people about it. I can definitely understand that in the case of ridiculously OTT Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt :
“I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate. It’s saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions. I would never want anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to.”
Meanwhile, 16-year-old Disney “star” Selena Gomez was a font of wisdom when she told E! Online that “A lot of people do look up to certain celebrities and will follow in their footsteps. I think you just have to be aware of what you’re saying.” Of course, she quickly said that “I’m not really sure who I would pick to run our country,” which makes me really glad that she’s not two year older.
